At Number 2 – Sin
Sin was one of the first adult themed FPS games, that focused on entertainment for mature audiences. Around this time, many games were suitable for all players and complex story lines, great soundtracks and movie spin offs, were non existent. This made games for mature audiences, a risk for developers, but we’re glad Ritual took the leap and produced this great ’18 cert’ game.
From the moment you started playing, you knew this was an FPS unlike many others. Getting behind the uber mass of a chain gun, while flying around a building populated by bad guys, brought some ultra violent carnage, but it was one hell of an opening scene. This let you know from the very beginning, that Sin wasn’t here to pass the time, or buy for your younger nephew…it was one bad ass adult themed game and it would go down in gaming history as one of the industries greats, with huge balls of steel!
The main character was Blade. He was a kick ass cop who didn’t take any shit. Blades ‘one liners’ in bad situations, as well as conversations between his computer wiz side kick JC, were funny, engaging and well suited to the darker tone that the game set. In fact, the dialog and attitude with the main characters, helped make the game what it was.
Any FPS worth it’s weight, needs ammo hungry goodies and Sin offered just that. Blades trusty magnum was his best friend and was a huge handgun that packed a huge punch and sent the bad guys flying, once they’d shed their fair share of blood. Sin was one of the only FPS games, where you actually felt comfortable with the default gun. It looked cool, sounded cool and you just loved how the bad guys danced, once you pulled that trigger of justice.
Every game with bad guys, needs a leader…but here is where Sin earned it’s name even more. John Blade’s target throughout the game, is a sexy villain by the name of Elexis Sinclaire. This babe looks like she’s just taken a break from a porn shoot and has all the curves in all the right places.
MAKE IT SEXIER
Sin was one of a few that introduced adult themed games to the industry and proved that they were in demand. Sin wasn’t exactly ground breaking in terms of design and gameplay, but it did have much more interactive environments than most. Unfortunately, Sin was released alongside Half-Life (yeah…it never stood a chance), so the game never really got the attention it deserved, but we still love how faithful it was to the mature player…it really was a unique FPS in it’s own right.
Sin has one bad ass and sexy babe…Elexis. She loves her latex and we loved to see her parade around in it. We all know how demanding FPS fans are today, so a new Sin would require a much better plot, gorgeous and generous level designs, finished with realistic and unique interactive ideas.
If you took this and mixed it with sexual themes that pushed the boundaries of shelf release, then you would be on to something that would make every Sin fan smile. We loved Elexis’ naughty attitude, but we want more from this hot villain…we want to she her in more raunchy outfits and perhaps with an army of latex loving babes?
We know there was an attempt to bring Sin back….but it simply never offered what made the original Sin so unique. Why couldn’t we hear more of Blade and his bad ass attitude? We also didn’t hear or see enough of J.C, which put a huge halt to their memorable conversations.
If you take these mistakes and top it with there being dulled down raunchiness (unless you put a mod on the episode), then you suddenly realize that you weren’t even playing Sin…just some form of spin off.
We don’t want Ritual to give up on Sin…it’s an historic gaming creation and we want more! Please take into consideration what made the first Sin and build on it. Stay away from episodic installments and just make a better sequel…or…if it suits…re-make Sin. A modern engine with modern physics, would do the game wonders and to see Elexis in latex…in HD would be pretty sweet. Add to the adult theme though, with a choice of costumes and outfits on completion for her, as well as much more sexy encounters with the bad ass dude himself.
A good re-make would easily create interest and boost hype for sequels. A multi-platform release of this re-make, would benefit the studio too, so we could all enjoy the sinful delights, once again.
